CROCHET PATTERN: Gratifying Granny Square colorful, rainbow flower 12″ afghan block

GRATIFYING GRANNY SQUARE – Ruffle Flower Afghan Block 12” (30.48 cm)
Crochet Pattern with US Terminology (UK equivalents in parentheses).

Colorful and versatile, this lovely flower design utilizes the seven colors of the rainbow to make four 6” (15.25 cm) motifs. The motifs are then stitched together to make a 12” (30.5 cm) afghan block. The 7 colors of the rainbow are red, orange, yellow, green, turquoise, blue, and violet, but you can let your creativity “blossom” with any colors you choose to make a colorful square for throws, bags, blankets, afghans, pillows, etc.

Skill Level: Intermediate. Techniques include slip stitch, chain, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, extended double crochet, treble crochet, pointy picot, and needle join (aka invisible join).

Yarn: Medium weight (#4) yarn. Caron Simply Soft used in models. #caronsimplysoft

Tools: H-8 (5.0 mm) hook, yarn needle, and scissors.

Total Yarn Needed: All amounts below are approximate.
* For each 6” (15.25 cm) motif – About 0.825 oz/44 yds (24.3 g/39.6 m).
* For a 12” (30.5 cm) block – About 3.5 oz/184 yds (103.25 g/168 m), including seams and border.
* Pattern gives details on approximate amounts for each separate color.
