FREE CROCHET PATTERN: Sensible Tunisian Scarf

Slide1
This scarf is super-warm and double-thick. The yarn color changes every row, making a tiny zig-zag pattern on the front side and a horizontal stripe effect on the back of the fabric. One size fits all.
Slide5
The scarf shown is 4” x 64”, not including the fringe. This scarf is a companion accessory to the Sensible Hat (Cro-Hook) pattern in my Etsy shop,

This condensed version of the pattern consists of “bare bones instructions,” which are provided as a courtesy to those already skilled with the Tunisian knit stitch and changing yarn colors.

Lots of photos in the enhanced version make it easy to learn changing colors in Tunisian knit stitch. Some of my pattern testers had never done Tunisian crochet before attempting this pattern and found that it has sufficient instruction that they were able to execute the project beautifully.

SPECIAL NOTE:  At four inches wide, this scarf is narrow enough that it could be worked with a regular crochet hook. Just wind a rubber band around the end, to keep the stitches from sliding off. However, I don’t recommend doing Tunisian crochet this way long term. It’s much better to use the correct tool for the job. If you’re new to Tunisian crochet, don’t have a Tunisian hook yet, and want to give it a try, though, it can be done.
