CROCHET PATTERN: Five Diamonds Granny Square II – 12 inches with I Hook

This pattern is available in my Etsy shop for $3.99.

A lacy crocheted square for shawls, throws, pillow overlays, curtains, or afghans. This pattern is called “Five Diamonds” because, no matter which way it’s turned, there are five diamonds (or squares), one within another, in the center of the square. This is a “sister” pattern to the “Five Diamonds Granny Square I,” which produces a 10-inch square using a K (6.5 mm) hook.

You may stop after Round 7 for a 9-inch square.

Materials. 2.2 oz (62 g / 114 yds / 104 m) worsted-weight or 10-ply yarn (#4). Samples shown use Red Heart Super Saver in Light Blue (pg 1) and Flamingo (pg 3).

Tools. I/9 – 5.5 mm hook, yarn needle, and scissors.

Gauge. 14 sts and 8 rows in 4 inches of dc.

Size. Finished square measures 12” x 12” (30.5 cm x 30.5 cm), 40 sts per side.
