CROCHET PATTERN: Complete Accord Square 12″ (30 cm)

Tunisian Pinwheel Square with Wide Moss Stitch Border

This square is the 12” (30 cm) version of the original Tunisian Pinwheel Square pattern, published in August 2016, which was 8.5” (22 cm). This project employs the Tunisian simple stitch for the pinwheel and the moss stitch (aka granite or linen stitch) for the border. A Tunisian crochet hook is not required, as the Tunisian portion is small enough that a regular crochet hook can be used.

This pattern covers only the border portion of the square. You’ll complete the “Sweet Wisdom Dishcloth” pattern for the pinwheel portion first, except using a larger hook (I/9-5.5 mm). Then, proceed with the instructions for the border on page 2.

Materials. 2.2 oz (63 g/106 yds/97 m) of worsted-weight yarn for full square, including pinwheel and border.

Tools. I/9-5.5 mm regular crochet hook (Tunisian hook not required), scissors, tapestry needle, locking stitch marker (2).

Sizes. Pinwheel portion: 6” (15 cm). Full square with border: 12” (30 cm), 41 sts per side.

Suggested yarns. Thicker worsted-weight yarns, such as Vanna’s Choice, Red Heart Super Saver, Hobby Lobby I Love this Yarn, or Lily Sugar ‘n Cream cotton.

Gauge. 14 sts and 14 rows in 4” (10 cm) of Tunisian Simple Stitch.
